Private Lessons
Each lesson includes an interactive reading of a story book related to the specific lesson content, information on a specific art concept (color, line, shape, form, value, space, texture) instruction on material use, time for creative expression and a closing discussion about the activity.
If you live in La Crescenta or the surrounding areas of La Canada, Glendale, Altadena, Pasadena, Tujunga, etc. I can come to your house for in-person lessons. After school hours are available during the academic year, with more flexibility during the summer. If you are interested in coordinating a group of your child’s friends to take lessons, groups up to six kids are possible with adequate space. Zoom lessons are available for students that are further away or out of state, group lessons can be arranged for Zoom too.
I supply materials for in-person lessons. I do not supply materials for Zoom lessons. For virtual lessons a materials list is provided one week prior to the initial meeting so there will be time to obtain the materials.

“Ms. Alison is a warm, skillful and dynamic art teacher. She incorporates theory, story telling, music and movement in a way that engages diverse learners, of all ages and abilities. Every lesson was structured but still gave our kids the opportunity to showcase their creative and individual insights. Our time with Ms. Alison was truly a gift!” - Jamie Lee, educator and parent of in person private students

“I liked how she taught me the color wheel and how to paint! I miss dancing with her.” - Shiloh, private student, age 7
“I am so grateful for every minute of lessons … for my son. It has been instrumental to his well being, not just learning art, which is amazing in itself. Alison has a unique sense of understanding where other teachers have missed it, of my kid's strengths and how to approach his needs. What began as art instruction turned into a kind of art therapy. I feel really great about the lessons my son has had, each one learning stories, art techniques, chats and life lessons inserted somehow, loads of laughter and good times, not to mention beautiful art gracing my walls. Thank you Mrs. Brett!” - Natalie Rutkin, Singer/Songwriter, Music Educator and parent of private student, Eitan Ruskin, virtual lessons

“During covid, Alison provided art lessons virtually for my two sons Lucas and Ethan. They remember these lessons and how it made a positive impact on them during this difficult time. They often mention her and have said “Mommy, Mrs. Brett’s art lesson helped me feel creative and happy.” – Lucas We are grateful for Alison and all the core memories she helped create for my students and my two sons.” Judy Lee, Educator and Mom of two amazing boys
